The Physics Department of IPB University Assists in the Functionalization and Optimization of the High School Physics Laboratory in Bogor Regency

[5 July 2022] The Department of Physics, IPB University also helped in the functionalization and optimization of physics laboratories in several high schools (SMA) in Bogor. This effort is made to optimize the function of the existing physics laboratory. The activity was carried out in two stages, namely visitation to the laboratory and training for physics teachers. There are at least three schools that follow, namely MAN 1 Cigombong, SMAN 1 Cijeruk, and SMAN 1 Caringin.
The Chair of the IPB University Physics Practicum Team, Dr. Heriyanto Syafutra explained that the practicum kit training materials provided were targeted to be used in this new academic year. He said that the material given was the use of analog-scale current and voltage measuring instruments, Ohm’s Law, resistor circuits in series and parallel, and the phenomenon of differences in light levels in parallel circuits based on the influence of electric current.
Not only that, the teachers also received material about the shifting of the compass needle due to the induced magnetic field around a current-carrying wire, the sum of the forces on a suspended object’s equilibrium system, Hook’s Law, harmonic oscillating motion in a spring, harmonic oscillating motion on a simple pendulum, determination of forces and coefficients. maximum static, and determination of acceleration in uniform changing motion.
On the same occasion, Ratih Eka Maryati, SSi, a physics teacher at SMAN 1 Cigombong, said that the physics practicum kit they had had never been used since they first arrived about five years ago. She hopes that the kit can be used for the learning process of physics in this new academic year. She also coordinated fellow teachers from SMAN 1 Cijeruk and SMAN 1 Caringin to join the training.
