Laboratory Occupational Safety and Health (K3L) Training by the Department of Physics IPB
The Department of Physics, IPB University, held a Laboratory Occupational Safety and Health (K3L) training on Monday, August 5, 2024. The K3L training was attended by academics consisting of lecturers, staff, and students of the Department of Physics. The training activities were carried out at the Auditorium which consisted of 2 training sessions.
The first session of the K3L training related to the Implementation of the Occupational Safety and Health Management System in the Laboratory was delivered by Santi Ambarwati, S.Si, M.Si. This activity aims to build self-awareness in every academic community, about the importance of implementing occupational safety and health management in daily work activities, especially work activities in the Laboratory. This aims to protect from potential dangers and risks that may arise from work activities, prevent and reduce work accidents and work-related diseases, and create a safe, comfortable, clean, and healthy work environment.
The topics presented in the K3L training activities are Basics of Laboratory K3, Information and Communication of Laboratory K3, Laboratory K3 Inspection, Accident Investigation and Reporting, Management of Hazardous and Toxic Materials, Management of Laboratory Waste, and How to Handle Emergency Conditions and Maintenance of K3 Equipment. The second session of K3L Training related to handling fire extinguishing using Light Fire Extinguishers (APAR) based on their types and handling fires using simple equipment delivered by the Directorate of General Affairs and Infrastructure (DUI) of IPB University. There is a fire extinguishing simulation for lecturers, education staff, and students which is carried out in the open space outside of the FMIPA Auditorium of IPB University. With this simulation, it can provide knowledge and experience in handling emergencies such as fires.
