Dr. Husin Alatas (ORCID: 0000-0002-7570-3267) is a Professor of Theoretical Physics and Head of Theoretical Physics Division at the Physics Department of IPB University. His recent research interests in Physics includes Theoretical Cosmology & Astrophysics, Quantum Theory, Physics and Modeling of Complex Systems, and Physics of Optics & Photonics and related Materials. He has been a Join SPIN-KNAW Postdoctoral Researcher in 2009-2011 at the Physics of Magnetism and Photonics (PMP) Research Group, Institut Teknologi Bandung, Indonesia, and the Integrated Optical Microsystems (IOMs) Research Group, MESA+ Institute, Twente Universiteit, the Netherlands. He has published 57 papers in peer-reviewed scientific journals and 54 conference papers. Prof. Alatas group has developed liquid quality control and ambient air quality monitoring real-time devices based on one dimensional photonic crystal where he contributed a theoretical platform. He also involves designing the theoretical platform for an optical based non-invasive blood glucose and hemoglobin measurement device.
